Gaia (Lima)

Once upon a time, a friend of mine once introduced me to Gaia's music. Even if he ever would have stabbed me in the back and then pissed all over my dying body, I would still be absolutely thankful to him. Gaia started back in 2001 and so far has produced four albums: Solar de Sara (2001), Anfibio (2005), La teoría de volar (2007) and Giroscopios, Coordenadas y la Fábrica de Nubes (2011). You can listen to the latter here:

The complete band's discography is available for free downloading from its webpage (specifically from http://www.gaia.pe/descargas.html; the first link under each album is the one for downloading the whole of it). Make sure to visit their Facebook page as well.

Detonador (Arequipa)

Arequipa has always been a proud city (and jokes about this fact are common ground in Peru). Personally, I think Arequipa has enough reasons to consider itself an outstanding place: an awesome weather almost all year round, absolutely delicious food, beautiful landscapes, streets full of history. And, of course, one more reason is Detonador. So you think grunge is dead? Now listen to these guys and think again. This is their first album, Eternidad ("Eternity" in Spanish), issued in 2009.
